Mae Mary Whitney Soudelier, 96, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 8:38 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012.


Mrs. Soudelier was a retired nurse-attendant from Terrebonne General Hospital. She enjoyed arts, crafts and poetry writings. She was Catholic and a life-long parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church. Her life revolved around her children whom she referred to as her seven jewels.


She is survived by her sons, T.J. Jr., Lanier Sr., Kent Sr. (Alice) and Warren (Rachael) Soudelier; daughters Carolyn (Whitney Jr.) Boudreaux and Linda (Ronald) Pepper; brother, Daniel (Willie) Whitney; sister, Pearl (Wilbert) Gros; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thaddeus Soudelier Sr.; parents Robert and wife Alcina Whitney; son, Morris Soudelier Sr.; brothers, Willie, Sewele, Robert and Fay Whitney; and sister, Rita Malbrough.

Burial was at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
