Major Michael James Elstner, Retired, 68, a native of Houston, Tx., and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, January 8, at 10:57 a.m.
He is survived by his gong time companion of 20 years, Susan Clark; son, Michael Anthony Elstner and wife Shannon of Houma; daughter, Susan Nini and husband Jason of Lafayette, La.; stepdaughters, Sandy Guidroz and Peggy Walston; stepsons, Waylon Walston and Roy Clark Jr.; brother, Louie Elstner of Texas; sister, JoAnn Atkins of Dallas, Tx.; seven grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Elstner and Marie Koplin Elstner.
He was a retired Major Assistant to Sheriff Larpenter and a member of the F.O.P. He served in the Coast Guard.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, January 12, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be Tuesday 10 a.m. with interment at Terrebonne Memorial Park
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
