Malcom Frank DeHart, 64, a native of New Iberia, La., and resident of Bayou Vista, La., died Tuesday, March 19, 2013.


Mr. DeHart was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved to be with his children and grandchildren and always made it a point to ensure that they knew it by frequent visits and hugs. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and all things outdoors. He was always a very generous and caring man who always put others first. He joyfully shared his faith with everyone he came into contact.


He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maria Canella; children, Angela Blanchard and David and Amy DeHart; mother, Vera DeHart; brother, Avery DeHart; sisters, Phyllis Romero and Patricia Estilette; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Avery DeHart; and son, Michele DeHart.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 21, and 12 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Hargrave Funeral Home. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. (Hargrave)
