Mara Currie

Mara Margaret Mailander Currie, 81, a native of Waco, Texas, and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010.

Mrs. Currie retired from Saia Motor Freight. She was a parishioner of St. Matthews Episcopal Church and was a Vista volunteer and a published author, a jewelry designer and an artist. She volunteered at Terrebonne General Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Tom L. Currie; daughters, Mara Kathy (Lester) Guidry and Debra (Michael) Colwart; two grandchildren, Tommy Guidry and Courtney Babin Boudreaux; and eight great-grandchildren, Seth and Sebastian Porche, Jade, Kaleb and Abby Guidry, and Chloe, Sean and Kenner Boudreaux.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Ard Mailander.

She is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
