Margaret Irma Marcelle Marcello, 76, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, July 10, at 8:17 p.m.


She is survived by her husband, Lucas “Buddy” Marcello; one daughter, Gina M. Foret and husband James Foret; one sister, Evelyn Hall; and three grandchildren, Jaime Lucas Cadle, Sharon Elizabeth Foret and Jane Katherine Foret.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Antoine and Rosina St. Romain Marcello.


She was a 1950 graduate of Terrebonne High School. She was Miss Terrebonne Parish that same year and represented the parish in the New Iberia Rice Festival. She was a homemaker and loved playing cards and spending time with her many lifelong and new found friends. Handwork was her favorite hobby with her latest passion being quilting. She spent most of her day creating many beautiful masterpieces which will be treasured forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, Vandebilt Catholic High School or the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at First United Methodist Church in Houma.

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
