Margaret Jacqueline Burton Monteiro 78, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, April 12.
She is survived by her husband, John DaRocha Monteiro Sr.; sons, John D. “Bucky” Monteiro Jr. and wife Ellen Labbe, Charles B. “Boo” Monteiro, and Micheal E. Monteiro and wife Karen Garelick, daughters, Margaret J. “Sister” Monteiro, Victoria E. “FiFi” Monteiro, and Lucy E.A. Monteiro; grandchildren, Rebecca E. Monteiro, Jacqueline M. Griffin, Anadee L. McGee, Everett J. Hoke, John D. Monteiro III, Elliot R. Hoke, Mary G. Monteiro, Morgan M. Hoke, Lillian M. Monteiro, and Kenneth Early; and great-grandchildren, Drew M. Modrynski, Torrie M. Modrynski, Jase M. Griffin, Jazlyn R. Griffin, Ethan Romano, Cody J. Parfait Jr. and Brady W. Modrynski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard E. Burton and Margaret Brady Burton; and brother, Richard E. Burton Jr.
She was Episcopalian and a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. She was a past member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians, a past den mother for the cub scouts and a homemaker
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Chauvin Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
