Margaret “Mama” Washington, 80, a native of Klotzville, La., and a resident of Paincourtville, La., died Wednesday, February 25.


She is survived by her daughter, Charlene and husband Larry Hewitt of Paincourtville; sons, Edward and wife Eva Washington of New Orleans, La., the Rev. Michael and wife Marilyn Washington of Gonzales, La., David and wife Wanda Washington of Klotzville, Brian and wife Alfreda Washington of Prairieville, La., and Daniel and wife Jennifer Washington of Paincourtville; stepson, Percy Washington of New Orleans; sisters, Albertine Williams of Las Vegas, Nv., and Sarah Ann Breaux of Columbia; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Edward Washington; and parents, John and Mary Honora Brisker.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, at New Vision Ministry in Donaldsonville, La., with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at Bright Morning Star Baptist Cemetery.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
