Marie Borne Garner Bananto, 78, a native of Bowie, La., and a resident of Raceland, La., died Tuesday, May 27, at 9:45 a.m.


She is survived by her husband, Shedric “Joe” Bananto; sons, Michael Garner and wife Viola and Wayne Garner; daughter-in-law, Brenda Garner; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel P. Garner; and parents, Richard and Edia Autin Borne.


She was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Mathews, La., and was a member of the St. Hilary Ladies Altar Society.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Masses.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at St. Hilary Catholic Church with mass to follow. She will be buried at St. Mary Cemetery in Raceland.

Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
