September 4, 2013Marie Ella Verdin, 83, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013.
Mrs. Verdin loved to cook for the family on Sundays. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, solving puzzles, cards and going shrimping with her husband. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons, Perry, Richard and Paul (Gracie) Verdin; daughters, Carolyn (Ernest) Pierre and Darlene (Gerald) Naquin; brothers, Varnis (Joyce), Cyrus and John (Jean) Parfait; sisters, Josephine Billiot, Annie Mae Parfait and Sarah (Harry) Pellegrin; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Verdin; parents, Joseph and Edna Parfait; brother, Linus Parfait; and sisters, Ernestine Parfait and Rita Verdin.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Chauvin)
