Marie Magdalene Oubre Padel, 77, a native of Houma, La., entered her Heavenly Kingdom while praying the Rosary Saturday, November 8, to be with our Lord and her many other loved ones, including two sons, David Giles and Philip Michael, all waiting lovingly to embrace her now, finally free of the human frailties that imprisoned her for many years.

She is survived by her dedicated loving husband of 54 years, Giles E. Padel; two cherished daughters, Ann P. Irwin of Dallas, Tx., and Diana P. Blouin of Houma; a magnificent sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kerragen C. Ledet; a caring brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Oubre; sons-in-law, Dr. Charles F. Irwin of Dallas and Mark J. Blouin of Houma; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Philip M. Padel of Algoa, Tx.; grandchildren, Christopher Giles, Chase Hunter and Elizabeth Ann Irwin of Dallas, Ashley Marie and Ryan P. Padel of Texas and Rebecca Marie Blouin of Houma; sisters-in-law, Mrs. K.H. Applewhite, Mrs. Richard P. Oubre, Mrs. V.J. Oubre; and a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David Giles and Philip Michael.

She was recognized by family and friends as the Symbol of Strength. Like a beacon of light she stood fast to her beliefs and convictions, as an ongoing inspiration to friends and family alike. She was an accomplished gardener, an award-winning horticulturist, a recognized gourmet cook and a polished connoisseur of fine living. For years she was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a faithful Eucharistic Minister. She was a devoted wife and mother. She remained steadfast and true to her faith and convictions throughout her lifetime. She was a proud member of Sew N Sews, a very supportive sewing group of special friends and relatives.

Remember:

It is not love at first sight that counts …

It is love at last sight that matters.

Her husband vows that his last sight of his beloved Marie

Was second only to a beatific vision!

She made my life worth living.

She carried me through life…
