‘N-word’ put to rest in Terrebonne Parish

Marie Delores Scott Parfait, 68, a native of Houma, La., and resident of Grand Caillou, La., died Monday, August 6, 2007, at 8:30 a.m.

She is survived by two sons. Murphy Ledet and his wife Peggy and Herman Boudreaux Jr.; two daughters, Shirline Scott and her husband Morris and Peggy Boudreaux and her husband Jason; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 19 step-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston P. Parfait; her parents, Edward Scott and Snyder Chaisson Scott; three brothers, Murphy, Antoine and Aubrey Scott; three sisters, Rosemary S. Trahan, Shirley Scott and Delores S. Parfait; and one grandchild, Johanna Ledet.

Visitation is Wednesday, August 8, 2007, from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Samart Funeral Home in Houma and Thursday, August 9, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Holy Family Catholic Church in Dulac. She will be buried in the church cemetery.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
