Martha Lee Singleton Vance, 84, a native of Morgan City, La., and a resident of New Orleans, La., died Friday, April 17, in Fayetteville, Ga.


She is survived by her devoted daughter, Irma Mae Taylor of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Martha Taylor of New Orleans and Albert Taylor III of Fayetteville; five great-grandchildren; five nieces; and one nephew.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Vance; parents, Junis Sr. and Bernice Sampler Singleton; brothers, Junis Jr. and David Singleton; sisters, Lillie S. Williams, Irma S. Escort and Lillian S. Miller; and grandparents, Emmy Simpson and John Simpson.

She was a member of Law Street Baptist Church of New Orleans where she served as a member of the choir, Baptist Training Teacher, Home Mission and Deaconess Board. She loved cooking, making hats, sewing and doing things for others.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25 at 3132 Law Street Baptist Church in New Orleans with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Majestic Funeral Home of New Orleans is in charge of the arrangements.
