Mary Catherine Asping Laughlin a native of DeGraff, Minn., and a longtime resident of Morgan City, La., died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.


A devoted Catholic, Mrs. Laughlin enjoyed sewing, gardening and attending her grandchildren’s activities.


She is survived by her sons, Earl Jr. (Susan) of Lafayette and Brian (Nancy) Laughlin of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Karen Laughlin of Morgan City, Monica (Bart) Mancuso) of Morgan City and Mary Jo (Gary) Beadle; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Francis Laughlin Sr.; daughter, Helen Anne Laughlin; grandson, Thomas Beadle; parents, Herbert G. and Annabele Byrne Asping; and siblings, Margaret, Walter, LuVerne and Loretta.

The Laughlin family extends its thanks to Mrs. Laughlin’s caregivers, Elma Pierce, Beth Fryou and Mary Faulk; and physicians, Drs. Robert Gamble, Francis H. Metz III, James Lam and Stephen Abshire.

She is buried at the Morgan City Mausoleum.
