Mary “Selena” Coleman Folse, 82, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Sunday, July 29, 2007.


She is survived by 10 daughters, Victoria Folse, Sarah Coleman, Audrey Folse, Shirley Folse, Gloria Coleman, Geraldine Folse, Betty Coleman, Evelyn Moten, Barbara Hester and Octavia Brown; four sons, Joseph Folse Jr., Nelson Folse, Clarence Folse and Hillouet Coleman; five sisters, VerceLee Smith and Dianne B. White, Mary Alice Brumfield, Agnes Reado, and Mary Ingram; two brothers, Robert Lee Brown and Royal Brown; 54 grandchildren; 127 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Folse Sr.; her parents, Leonard Coleman and Carrie Brown Williams; her step-parents, Edward Sr. and Agnes Charles Brown; one daughter, Yvonne Folse; seven brothers, Lionel Williams, Walter Williams Jr., Eddie Williams, Nolan Joseph Brown, Edward Brown Jr., Clinton Brown and Octave Brown; and three sisters, Dorothy Nelson, Carrie Brown, and Aldonia Brown.

Mary was a devout Baptist.

Visitation is Saturday, August 4, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland. She will be buried at Brooklyn Cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
