Mary Genevieve “Nan” Verret, 63, a native of Grand Caillou, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 9:10 a.m.


She is survived by her husband, Cyrus Dean; one son, Joseph “Gary” Verret and wife Mary “Libby”; five brothers, Joseph “Leroy” Dean and wife Emelda, Joseph “Ivy” Dean and wife Martha, Paul “Jessie” Dion and wife Lena, Joseph “Roy” Dean Sr. and companion Sarah, and Paul “Jerry” Dion and wife Rosetta; three grandchildren, Savannah Verret and companion Josh, Phillip Verret and Joseph “Joey” Dean Verret; and one great-grandchild, Joshua Vanslyke Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Ivy Dean Sr. and Mary Verdin Dean; and one sister, Juanita Dean.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Samart Funeral Home in Houma, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Houma. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial at Rogers Cemetery in Houma.
