Mary Lee “Mae Mae” Matthews, 79, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, August 10, 2007.


She is survived by two daughters, Geraldine T. Lewis and husband, Bradley, and Libby Ann Sims, all of Houma; two brothers, Ray and Roy Calloway of Houma; one sister, Alma Scott of Houma; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


She was preceded in death by her husbands, Prentiss Matthews and Alfred James Thompson; her parents, Efrem Dunaway, James A. Walker and Alma Walker Baker; three brothers, Welton Dunaway, Dennis Walker and Edward Moses; and two sisters, Emily Moses Diggs and Willie Mae Moses Banks.

Mary was a devout Baptist and is at home with her Lord Jesus. She was retired with Lafourche Parish Council on Aging and was an usher and member of New Salem Baptist Church.

She is buried in Southdown Cemetery in Houma.

Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
