Mary Plaisance Schouest, 76, a native of Gheens, La., and a resident of Luling, La., died at 5:27 a.m. Sunday, September 21.


She is survived by one son, David Schouest and wife Pam; three daughters, Debby Dufrene and husband Carlon, Susan Burnside and Helen Daw Schouest; one brother, Earl Plaisance; three stepbrothers, Ned, Percy and Luther Matherne; two sisters, Delores Dufrene and Margie Matherne; two stepsisters, Marjorie Sampite and Jeanette O’Henry; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Schouest; her parents, Lenest “Chief” and Haddie Rodrigue Plaisance; stepmother, Hattie Plaisance; and one son, Glynn Schouest.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, at Falgout Funeral Home with mass to follow at Holy Savior Catholic Church. She will be buried at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
