Maurice Harry Himel, 81, a native of Thibodaux, La., and resident of Schriever, La., died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, June 23.
He is survived by eight sons, Morris “Mo Joe” Himel, Thomas Himel and wife, Jaunice, James “Jimmy” Himel, David Himel and wife, Margo, Robert Himel and wife, Amelia, Johnny Himel and wife, Toni, Emile Himel and wife, Cindy, and William “Billy” Himel and wife, Michelle; three daughters, Margaret Bramelette and husband, Mickey, Dorothy “Dot” McNamara and husband, John, and Fannie Rosine and husband, Mike; one brother, Kirby Himel; one sister, Shirley Crochet; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and care taker, Lillie Folse.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Gros Himel; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Justilian Himel; three brothers, Andrew, Roy and Lester Himel; and one sister, Dorothy Himel.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
