Mearl S. Galloway, 71, a resident of Morgan City, La., died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010.

Mrs. Galloway’s greatest desire was to pattern her life after Jesus Christ because she knew God’s desire for all who know Him to become more like Him. She never missed an opportunity to talk about her Savior whether a stranger or a friend. She was always there to minister to others even though sometimes she wasn’t feeling well herself, she still found the energy and faith to express God’s love as she firmly believed in the power of prayer. Jesus Christ was her friend as she loved to talk to Him about her concerns along with the long list of prayer request that she kept logged daily to bring before him. She was a powerful prayer warrior and will be sadly missed by all. Her demeanor was warm, kind, and embracing toward anyone she met and she extremely desired to help people in need. Her reputation for kind acts toward people was endless. She also was a wonderful cook who thoroughly enjoyed cooking, whether it was for a few or for a large group. Making a feast out of any meal was her specialty. Family get-togethers with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were some of her most joyous occasions. She loved, cared and protected her family at all times.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet (James “J. D.”) Houghton, Ruthie (Jerry) Comeaux and Carol Jean (Greg Sr.) Leger; son, Randy (Charlene) DeHart; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Huey (Natalie) Stephens; and life long friend, Sally Tullier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Galloway; parents, Wilbert and Clara Stephens; one sister, Joyce Scully; and three brothers, Lenwood, Steve and Wilbert Jr.

She is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
