October 8, 2010Melvin Drane Sr., 81, a native of Batesville, Miss., and resident of Schriever, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010.
Mr. Drane was Methodist and a U. S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Drane; sons, Melvin Jr., Derrick, Eric, Benny and Michael Drane; stepsons, Harry and John Drane; daughters, Shelia Mae, Tracy and Emma Drane, Linda Griffin, Alexis Harris and Olivette Drane; stepdaughters, Bertha Johnson, Gail Collins and Edna Cruse; brother, Benny Drane; sister, Alma Bailey; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lucille Ellis Drane; and one son, Melvin Drane.
He is buried at Deweyville Cemetery.
