Merlin Joseph Naquin, 79, a native of Pointe-aux-Chenes, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, May 3, 2010.


Mr. Naquin was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from LSU in 1953 and then joined the U.S. Army, where he served until 1955. He enjoyed LSU sports, fishing, hunting, farming and dancing.


He is survived by daughters, Lynn M. Chaves and Janabeth “JB” Daigle; sons, Carey (Rosie) Naquin and Chet (Amanda) Naquin; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
