Meryl Mae Babin Chauvin, 81, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, July 18.


She is survived by three sons, Lynn Chauvin and wife, Brenda, of Anahuac, Tx., George Chauvin and wife, Mary, and Douglas Chauvin and wife, Lori, of Houma; one sister, Vera Guaraggi of Bay St. Louis, Ms.; nine grandchildren, Tammie Evans, Traci Smith, David Chauvin, George Chauvin Jr., Michael Chauvin, Mary Allyson Henson, Melanie Morgan, Leslie Chauvin and Michael Morgan; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Joseph Chauvin; her parents, Van Joseph Babin and Clavia Chauvin; four brothers, Wilmer, Murphy, Earl and Lloyd Babin; and three sisters, Helen Domangue, Jeannette Daughty and Genevieve Webre.


She was a homemaker and enjoyed her last few years with her extended family at the Homestead, where she was fondly known by everyone as Meryl.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Vandebilt Catholic High School.

She was buried at Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
