Mildred “Git” Collins Doucet, 77, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and a resident of Galliano, La., died Saturday, November 22, at 3:50 a.m.


She is survived by her husband, Vincent P. Doucet; sons, Allen Doucet and wife Kish, Wayne Doucet and wife Pamela, Royce Doucet, Kenny Doucet and wife Michelle, and Kevin Doucet; brother, Ignance Collins; sisters, Lauranise Charpentier, Evelyn Thibodaux, Melda Guidry; Judica Savoie and Elaine Bergeron; grandchildren, Kaylie, Vincent Sam and Emily Doucet; and three step-grandchildren, Jacob Wiltz, Mamie Wiltz and Angel Matherne.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Philozate and Theresa Gaspard Collins; brothers, Vendon Collins Sr., Luman “Chop” Collins and Olaine Collins; sisters, Vivian Callahan and Louella Pitre; and grandchild, Lacey Celeste Doucet.

She was a devoted wife and caring mother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 315. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, November 24, and 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano. Mass will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano with burial at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
