Mildred “Mickey” Brown Hubbell, 77, a native of St. Charles Community near Thibodaux, La., and resident of Napoleonville, La., died Thursday, May 26, 2011.

Mrs. Hubbell was a devoted Catholic, a daily communicant, and an active member in St. Anne’s church parish. She was a member of St. Anne’s Ladies’ Altar Society and Our Lady of Lourdes Fraternity Third Order of Mary, a CCD teacher, director and coordinator of the centering prayer groups, and a Eucharistic Minister. She was also active with her husband as co-chairs in many activities of the Louisiana State Council of the Knights of Columbus, Bayou Right to Life, and a committed adorer at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. She was a home economics graduate of SLI and taught home economics at Lockport High School. She was a talented seamstress and quilter, and enjoyed participating with the Magic Fingers Quilting Club of Napoleonville. She served as a volunteer at the “Helping Hands” thrift store since its inception.


She is survived by her husband, James J. Hubbell; children, Thomas (Mary), Anne and Lee Hubbell, and Laurie (Michael) Wood; five grandchildren, Aaron and Emily Hubbell, and Cecilia, Gabriel and Patrick Wood; brother, Warren (Eula) Brown; brother-in-law, Robert Talbot; sisters-in-law, Esther and Ethlyn “Toot” Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sylvania Boudreaux Brown; brothers, Perry and Wilbur Brown; sisters, Henrietta Reyer and Grace Talbot; and parents-in-law, Philip and Cecile Hubbell.

The family would like to thank all who offered their prayers, well wishes and assistance during her period of illness.
