Milton “Champ” “Mickey” Joseph Champton Jr., 72, a native of Union, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010.


Mr. Champton was an U.S. Army veteran. He was past grand Knight of the St. Bernadette Knights of Columbus, past area C Coordinator and past Faithful Navigator of the A. J. Caillouet 4th degree assembly. He was the maintenance supervisor for Patterson Truck Line.


He is survived by his wife, Nancy Poche Champton; sons, Milton III (Kelly) and Steven (Syd) Champton; daughters, Denise (Michael) Saucier, Wilhelmina (Thomas) Dusse, Melissa (Troy) Ledet and Sheila (Roy) Horrigan; 10 grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Saucier, Amanda and Christopher Dusse, Jeremy, Brittany and Courtney Champton, and Megan, Madison and Maya Ledet; five step-grandchildren, Sarah, Victoria, Rachel, Raquel and Alexis Horrigan; sister, Margaret Tabrary; and stepsisters, Ruth Mae Theriot and Ann Pertuit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Wilhelmina Lambert Champton; one granddaughter, Angel Marie Ledet; and one stepbrother, Larry Pertuit.

In lieu of flower donations to St. Bernadette Church renovations are preferred.
