Mr. Donald Charles Smith, 84, a native and resident of Patterson, La., died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.


He is survived by his wife, Leona Smith; sons, Don, Dan (Denise) and Todd Smith; daughters, Trisha (John) Tieperman, Trudy (Drew) Andrews and Ginger (Wally) Griffin; sisters, Pat (Louis) Michot and Jane Evans; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II and won several air metals and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon for his service in the Philippine Liberation Cir. and the Mandated Island Cir. He was a sugar cane farmer for Kemper Williams, a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was a very devoted Catholic and a family man who was loved by many in the Tri-City area. He will be very much missed by the ones whose lives were touched with just a kind smile and a tender look with his blue eyes.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. He will be entombed at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
