Murphy Albert Gautreaux, 71, a native and resident of South Lafourche, La., died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010.
Mr. Gautreaux was a teacher at the Larose Cut Off Middle School for nearly three decades and was awarded the Lafourche Community Hero of the Year Award by the Chamber of Commerce in 2009. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Hutzler; brother, Terry Gautreaux; sons, Gwayne and Grant Gautreaux; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, La., with mass to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
