Myrtle Lorraine Cannon, 86, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., and resident of Houma, La., died at 6:09 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011.

Mrs. Cannon was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma. She was a devoted wife and mother of six, whose faith in God sustained her through many trials during her lifetime. She had a sharp mind and keen wit and enjoyed participating in Jeopardy and the spelling bees at the Homestead. She will be greatly missed.


She is survived by her sons, David (Brenda), Ronnie (Pam), Jimmy (Liz) and Danny (Tricia) Cannon; daughters, Shirley (Ralph) Use’ and Nancy (Dale) Brown; sister, Katherine (Jack) Patterson; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Cannon; parents, Carl and Lillian McCoy; brother, Harold McCoy; and sisters, Dolores Barker and Marjorie Hiles.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Chauvin Funeral Home with services to follow. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. (Chauvin)
