Nelson Paul Trahan, 81, a native and resident of Bayou Black, La., died at 6:36 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011.


Mr. Trahan was the founder and original owner of Trahan’s Heating and Air. He founded the company in 1963. His love for the community of Saint Anthony inspired him to restore the church’s rectory, the church and build a community center for which he was the building chairman. He was St. Anthony’s Parish Council President in the early 70’s. He was also an active member of St. Anthony’s Usher Society. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife, Joyce Arceneaux Trahan; sons, Gary (Janell) and Terry (Jodiee) Trahan; daughters, Brenda (Larry) James and Kathy (Jason) Hebert; nine grandchildren, Michelle and Guy Gautreaux, Wendy, Missy, Brandon and Terry Jr. Trahan, and Bryan, Brad and Brittany Hebert; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Julia Currie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Sr. and Cecile Bergeron Trahan; one brother, Leon Trahan Jr.; and one grandchild, Jeremy James Trahan.

He is buried at Bayou Black Cemetery. (Chauvin)
