Nettie Baye Babin, 89, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, April 8.


She is survived by her son, Daniel J. Babin and wife Carolyn Daigle of Baton Rouge, La.; daughter, Willie Mae “Billie” Foret and husband Dewey of Raceland, La.; grandchildren, Drucilla, Veronica and Dwayne Foret, Tammy Ordoyne and husband Curt, Kristen Clark and husband Donald, and Jason Babin; great-grandchildren, Brady and Courtney Foret, Nathan, Nicholas, Tyler and Kaitlyn Ordoyne, Jessica Booth, Bailey Babin and Daniel and Elysia Clark; and great-great-grandchild, Ethan Dickinson-Ordoyne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie “Bill” Babin; brothers, Jules “J.B.” and Norman Baye; and sister, Lucy Mae Smith Hebert.


She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court Anna Maria No. 993, an honorary member of Christ the Redeemer Ladies Altar Society and St. Anne Society. She was also a Eucharistic minister at Christ the Redeemer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church or to St. Ann Society.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Thibodaux with the funeral mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
