Captain Nicholas Jay Bourgeois, 28, a native of Thibodaux, La., and a resident of Schriever, La., died Monday, June 7, 2010.


Mr. Bourgeois graduated from Houma Christian School in 1999. He enlisted in the Navy and completed Nuclear Power School before being selected to attend the United States Naval Academy. Upon graduation in 2006, Nicholas received a commission to the Marine Corps. He served with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, in Camp Lejeune as an infantry officer and deployed both to Ramadi, Iraq, and to Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Mostly recently, he completed the Marital Arts Instructor Trainer Course in Quanitco, VA. He lived according to his priorities: God, family and country.


He is survived by his wife, Miranda Kirchner Bourgeois; sons, Schriever and David Bourgeois; parents, Lester “Biff” Charles Jr. and Carrie “Dee” Gros Bourgeois, Paula Bush and Judge Glynn F. Voisin; grandparents, Grace Mallet Bush, Lester Sr. and Rita Bourgeois; numerous brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
