Nick J. Arcemont Jr., a native of Bayou L’Ourse, La., died at his residence in Stephensville, La., on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010.

A parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mr. Arcemont was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was also a member of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus, and a successful lifelong businessman in the Patterson and Morgan City areas.


He is survived by his sons, David of Morgan City, Jude of Patterson, Nickey Sr. of Carencro and Paul Arcemont of Patterson; daughters, Vernona Marsh of Labadiville, Deanna Guidry of Cypress, Texas, Arlene Fontenot of Sulphur, Mary LeBlanc of Friendswood, Texas, and Elizabeth Porterfield of Nederland, Texas; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Clara LeBlanc Arcemont; wives, Olive Landry and Odette Greig; daughter, Maria Elizabeth; grandson, William “Billy” Marsh; eight brothers, and six sisters.

Visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Sacred Heart Church. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the church.

He will be buried at the Morgan City Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in his honor.
