Nolan Joseph Lirette, a native of Chauvin, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2011.


Mr. Lirette was a U.S. Army Airforce veteran of World War II and a retired electrician from Penrod Drilling Company. He was a man of simple taste who embraced his Cajun heritage. He loved hunting, fishing, wood and metal working, general tinkering and had a manic passion for raw oysters. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.


He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Merill Lirette; sons, Dr. David (Theresa) and Dr Ronald (Renee) Lirette; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lise Lirette; brothers, Bagley, Jeffery, Magnus and Henry Lirette; and sisters, Delta Boyer and Hilda Authement.

Burial was at St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery in Bourg, La. (Chauvin)
