Norman Joseph Belanger, 80, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La. and resident of Houma, La., died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2007.


Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.


He is survived by one daughter, Sarah Pierre and husband, Adam Sr., of Houma; two grandchildren, Adam Pierre Jr. and Angela Pierre; and one great-grandchild, Kristen Pierre.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vienna Boudreaux Belanger; his parents, Wallace and Elva Bourgeois Belanger; one daughter, Erlene Belanger; two brothers, Felix and Adam Belanger; and six sisters, Theresa Jeffery, Elsie Marcel, Erlene Savoie, Ethel Cadiere, Bernice Dupre and Jeanette Ledet.

He was a retired truck driver for Patterson Truck Lines. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
