Octavia Bennett Jones, 65, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, April 26, 2011.
Mrs. Jones was Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy Jones; sons, Isaiah (Renata) and Dwight Smith; daughters, Irish (Demetrius) Lewis and Angela (Glen) Smith; brother, Warrence (Shirley) Bennett Sr.; sisters, Sarah Kate Matthews, Pearl Jones, Louise (Anthony) Richard, Elizabeth (John) Bolden and Gloria (Lionel) Smith; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Zachary and Octavia Nixon Bennett; one daughter, Torline D. Smith; two brothers, Zachary Bennett Jr. and Lloyd Coleman; and two sisters, Ledoria Watkins and Joan B. Thomas.
She is buried at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. (Community)
