Luncheon to recognize area’s foster parents; More adults needed to provide homes to youths

Olivia Sussman Chenevert, 80, a resident of Napoleonville, La., died at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007.


Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Landry’s Funeral Home in Napoleonville and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


She is survived by three sons, Thomas Chenevert and wife, Barbara Ferry Chenevert, of Dover, Ohio, Mathew Chenevert and wife, Wanda DiMarco Chenevert, of New Orleans, La. and Gerald Chenevert Jr. and wife, Debbie Moran Chenevert, of Baton Rouge, La.; three daughters, Clare C. Acosta and husband, Rodney, of Thibodaux, La., Sue C. Aysenne and husband, Tommie, of Napoleonville, La. and Elizabeth C. Stein and husband, Michael, of Herndon, Va.; one brother, Samuel Sussman; one sister, Julie Sysskind; grandchildren, Bradford and Jennifer Turney, Komal, Madeline, Gabrielle and Camille Chenevert, Aaron and Grace Chenevert, John, Christie and Michael Acosta, Aimee Aysenne Montero, Marie, Tommie Jr. and Susanne Aysenne, Benjamin, Zachary and Civia Stein; and one great-grandchild, Christian Acosta.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald J. Chenevert Sr.; her parents, Anna Hoffman and Ernest Sussman; one son, Mark Chenevert; and one granddaughter, Sophia Chenevert.

She was influential in founding the Assumption Parish Library and Assumption Art Guild. She was president of the Assumption Parish Library Board for many years and named the 1999 Citizen of the Year for Assumption Parish. She was a retired teacher and teacher of her own preschool in her home, a CCD teacher and altar boy leader.

She was a member of St. Anne Choir and the Ladies Altar Society and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She assisted many with social-studies projects and assisted many people through her work with Chenevert Photographers. Her love of learning touched many lives. She loved all people, nature and life.
