Orelia Cooper, 90, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Saturday, April 26.


She is survived by her adopted son, Herman Smith and his wife Rose of Capitol Heights, Md.; stepdaughter, Susie Shelvy of Raceland; god child, Hilda Reado of Raceland; devoted care giver Beatrice Johnson of Raceland; and two grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Cooper; and parents, Howard Robinson and Ophelia Nickol.

She served as an usher for many years at Bell Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Bell Baptist Church in Raceland with the religious service to follow. She will be buried at Brooklyn Cemetery in Raceland.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
