Ovelia B. Darda, 87, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Monday, February 9, at 9:10 a.m.
She is survived by her son, J.C. Darda and wife Donna; daughters, Marguerite LeBouef and husband, Elwin, Mary Ledet and husband Philip, Angeline Terrebonne and companion Charles Bergeron, Rosalina Fouts and husband Jerry, Josephine Bergeron, Rose “Chicky” Hebert and husband Audie and Suzanna Darda; brothers, Jacque Billiot and Clovis Billiot; sister, Rita Dantin; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Innerce Darda; parents, Alexander and Emma Billiot; son, Narcisse Darda; brothers, Marcelle, Pierre and Camille Billiot; and sisters, Camilla Griffin, Elmire Billiot and Edna Billiot.
She was an elder in the Bayou Lafourche Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha Indians.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 14, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose. Burial will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Golden Meadow.
Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
