Percy S. Gasery, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011.


Mr. Gasery was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from the Terrebonne Parish School Board and was a member of Stone Square Masonic Lodge 239 of Houma, La. He was vice-president of the Sr. Choir at New Magnolia Baptist Church.


He is survived by his wife, Hazel Gasery; son, Percy Jr. (Vanessa) Gasery; daughter, Deyarn Cook; brothers, Earl, Lawrence and Preston (Geraldine) Gasery; sisters, Elmira (Albert) King, Annie Norman and Cheryl Gasery; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lilly and John Gasery Sr.; brothers, Lester, William and John Gasery Jr.; and sisters, Daisy Small and Louise Tardiff.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at New Magnolia Baptist Church in Schriever, La. Religious services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial with military honors at Half-Way Cemetery in Gray, La. (Williams and Southall)
