Peter Burns Sr.

Peter Theophile Burns Sr., 88, of Natchez, La., died Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

Mr. Burns was active in the lumber and timber business, as well as an owner of Burn’s Shoe Store. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary Basilica; Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight and the Faithful Navigator or the Fourth Degree; Krewe of Phoenix, serving as a Duke in 1987; and the Krewe of Killarney.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Therese Chouest Burns; daughters, Annette (Charles) Burns, Ann Burns, and Melanie (Rick) Kennedy; sons, Parnell Burns, Peter (Diane) Burns Jr., John (Michael McGehee) Burns, David (Shirley) Burns and Paul (Laura) Burns; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Margaret Burns and Ann Elizabeth Garrity; and sister-in-law, Hazel Chouest Faulk.

Mr. Burns is buried at Natchez City Cemetery.
