Philip Asevedo Jr., 87, a resident of Houma, La., died Monday, April 18, 2011.


Mr. Asevedo was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish prior to Hurricane Katrina and a WWII veteran who served honorably in the 58th Fighter Control Squadron.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Dodie” Bernard Asevedo; daughters, Amy (Peter) Vorenkamp and Margaret (Mark) Walker; four grandchildren, Jason and Amanda Vorenkamp, and Jordan and Kristen Walker; and brothers, Harold “Dutch” and Jerry Asevedo.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Sr. and Annie Griner Asevedo; brothers, Charles and Marcel Asevedo; and one sister, Elvera Nicholson.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff at Houma Family Practice Clinic, Terrebonne Homecare and Haydel Memorial Hospice.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
