Philip Washington Sr., 63, a native of Raceland, La., and a resident of Terrebonne Parish, La., died Tuesday, June 2, 2009.


He is survived by his wife, Brenda Kenny Washington; sons, Philip Washington Jr., Travis Washington, and Darryl Graham of Houma, La., Anthony McIntyre of Desmoines, Iowa and Jerome Washington of Houston, Texas; daughter, Angelle Lorick of Raceland; brothers, Albert Washington and wife Verly of Raceland, Horace Washington and wife Annie of Houma, Kennedy Washington and wife Phyllis of Tulsa, Okla., Samuel Washington and Russell Washington; sisters, Gladys Dorsey of Boutte, La., Jeannie Coleman of Raceland, Beverly Thomas and husband Clyde of Raceland, and Agnes Charles and husband Morris of Houma; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Washington Sr. and Rosie Miller Washington; brother, Melvin Washington; sister, Joan Rose Sylvester; and grandparents, Clarence and Ada Miller, Phillip Alexander, James and Mildred Washington, and Evelina Raymond Washington.

He was Baptist and enjoyed sharing the word of God.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Raceland. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at the church with burial at Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery.
