Ray Joseph Samanie, 68, a native of Gray, La., and a resident of Bayou Blue, La., died at 2 a.m. Saturday, May 17.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Dupre Samanie of Gray; sons, Barry Samanie Sr. and wife, Lisa, of Schriever, La., and Glenn Samanie and wife, Mona, of Bayou Black, La.; daughters, Donna Breaux and husband, Peter, and Lisa Foret of Bayou Blue; brother, Floyd Samanie of Houma, La.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy Paul Samanie Sr. and Angele Hebert Samanie; brothers, Lionel Samanie, Ivy Samanie Jr., Julius Samanie and Emile “Bill” Samanie; sisters, Hilda Carroll, Vivian Breaux and Cleon Morgan; and grandson, Barry “B.J.” Samanie Jr.

He was a retired service supervisor with Schlumberger Well Services for 26 years, and an usher with St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at St. Louis Catholic Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
