Ray Lucille Belanger Theriot, 99, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, April 19, at 12:15 p.m.


She is survived by her son, Kenneth P. Theriot of Baton Rouge, La.; daughters, Carolyn T. Granier and husband P.C. of Houma, Bonnie T. Domangue and husband Kenneth “Canoe” of Houma, and M. Yvonne Corzo and husband Mario of Opelousas, La.; grandchildren, Paul C. Granier III and wife Wanda, Allison A. Granier, Kenneth J. Domangue Jr. and wife Leslie, Kayla D. Landry and husband Eric, Katherine D. Mazarac and husband Keith, Kami D. Babin and husband Brandon, Amy B. McCann and husband Steve, Kristen J. Clement and husband Richard Clement, MD, Kimberly Kay Theriot, Jesse Theriot and Shae Theriot; and 22 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Theriot Sr.; parents, John Howard Belanger and Clara Harlan Belanger; and son, Harold A. “Skippy” Theriot Jr.

She was a descendant of the Belanger family who donated the land where the courthouse now stands. Belanger Street was named after her family. She was very proud of her heritage. She was a member of the Terrebonne Parish Historical and Cultural Society, Southdown Plantation Museum and enjoyed learning and teaching French. She was a Eucharistic Minister to shut-Ins from Annunziata Parish. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and bingo, cooking for family and friends, embroidering and gardening. She was a very devout Catholic and loving mother to her family and friends.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 24, at St. Francis de Sales Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #1.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
