Rene Anthony Porche, 77, a native of Bayou Dularge, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.

Mr. Porche was a retired barge superintendent for McDermott, where he worked for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.


He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Gloria Porche; son, Jared Porche; daughters, Susan (John) Almaraz, Renee’ (Roland) Gros, Peggy (Ernie) Bergeron, Patricia (Craig) Hebert, Leslie (Randy) Breaux and Toni Porche; stepchildren, Melinda, Kenneth (Kristi), James (Lynn) and Michael (Laura) Breaux; brother, Gerald Porche; sisters, Mary Trahan and Joan Hebert; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand Sr. and Jeanne Porche; brother, Armand Porche; sisters, Bobbie Fonseca and Mary Hebert; grandchildren, Lea Breaux, Timothy Hebert and John Almaraz; and stepdaughter, Marlene Evans.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
