Reverend Charles Efram Hanks, 72, native of Steelville, MO and resident of Bourg, La., died Friday, August 31, 2007.


He is survived by his three sons, Joseph Hanks, James Hanks and his wife Angie, and John Hanks and his wife Angie; four daughters, Rose Marie Pacheco and her husband Isidoro, Rhonda Hanks, Karen Hebert and her husband Samuel, and Charlotte Boudreaux and her husband Berklen; one sister, Sarah Hanks; 22 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hubert Hanks; his parents, Henry and Rachel Ogle Hanks; one son, Charles Hanks, Jr.; four brothers, Leroy, Perry, Carl and Jesse Hanks; and two sisters, Betsy and Tresse Hanks.

Charles was a devout Christian and a member of Emanuel Christian Fellowship Church. He enjoyed fishing.

Visitation is Thursday, September 6, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday, September 7, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Community Funeral Home in Houma, La. There will be a graveside service Monday, September 10, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Steelville Cemetery in Steelville, MO.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made at South Louisiana Bank.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
