Richard John Molaison Sr., 86, a native of Algiers, La., and a longtime resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, June 21.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Virginia Molaison of Houma; sons, Richard Molaison Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Kingwood, Tx., Craig Molaison of Lafayette, La., Roger Molaison and wife, Brandi, of Kingwood, John Molaison and wife, Chris, of Bourg, La., and Bryan Molaison and wife, Kathleen, of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and close friends, Pam Kelly and Bridget Enoch.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Molaison and Hattie Sevin Molaison.

He attended Warren Easton High School, Tulane University and South Louisiana Business College. He joined the U.S. Marines at age 17 and served for six years in the South Pacific during World War II with the Striking 6th Marine Division. He retired from Pennzoil after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Marine Corp League, American Legion, National Rifle Association and Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by his wife and family. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

He was buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
