The Rev. Richard “Lee” Lamury, 64, a native and resident of Berwick, La., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.
Mr. Lamury was a highly educated and talented man of God holding a bachelor’s degree in science education, masters in administration and supervision and doctorate in theology. Before becoming a pastor he was a greatly regarded teacher and coach at Berwick High School. He later served as the assistant principal at Berwick Jr. High. He founded Word of Life Family Church. He was passionate about fishing, golf and designing, building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He was an avid, sometimes rabid, die-hard Saints fan.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nell Lamury; daughters, Rebecca Lamury and Robin (David) Viator; father, Richard Lamury; mother, Mable Pennison; brother, Dwaine Pennison; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold Pennison; and grandparents, Leon and Agnes Broussard.
Entombment is at Berwick Mausoleum. (Hargrave)
