Lafourche Parish committee formed to fix jail woes

Rita Champagne Dufrene, 85, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Sunday, April 6, at 8:30 a.m.
She is survived by her son, Garland C. Dufrene; daughter, Andrea Matranga; grandchildren, Shawn and Andre Dufrene; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brader Dufrene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Dufrene; her parents, Americus and Ermina Martin Champagne; brothers, Eddie, Armand and Lloyd Champagne; and sister, Louise C. Aucoin.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland.
She was buried at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church Cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
