Rita Mae Arceneaux Blanchard, 78, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, La., died at 5:53 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010.


Mrs. Blanchard was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Paduah Catholic Church. She was a cancer survivor and attended Camp Blue Bird; a member of the Silver Sneakers; sang in the choir at St. Anthony of Paduah Catholic Church; and was a member of the Ladies Alter Society.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Blanchard; son, Wayne (Cindy) Blanchard of Houma; daughter, Carleen Veronie of Houma; brother, Donald, L.J. and Dale, all of Houma, and Kenneth Arceneaux of Schriever; sisters, Catherine LeBoeuf of Houma, Earline Hebert of Bayou Black and Gail Pontiff of Winnfield; three grandchildren, Ricky Lirette, Becki Badeaux and Scott Blanchard; and three great-grandchildren, Dorian and Seth Lirette and Parker Badeaux.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Gladys Trahan Arceneaux and sister, Ann Crochet.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, at St. Anthony of Paduah Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church

She will be buried at Bayou Black Cemetery.
